Kunnummal's Explosive Fifty Powers Globstars to VJD Victory Over Kollam

Calicut Globstars secured another important victory in Kerala Cricket League Season 3, defeating Kollam Sailors by 21 runs via the VJD method in a rain-affected encounter at the Greenfield International Stadium.

Batting first, Globstars put up an imposing 195/6 in 20 overs, with Rohan S Kunnummal leading the charge with a sensational half-century.

Kunnummal produced an attacking 58 off just 27 balls, striking seven fours and three sixes to set the tone for the Globstars innings. His explosive knock came at a strike rate of 214.81 and earned him the Player of the Match award.

After Kunnummal's departure, Akhil Scaria anchored the innings brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 56 off 43 balls, while Krishna Devan provided another spectacular finish with an unbeaten 39 off just 16 deliveries, including four sixes.

Their contributions helped Globstars finish strongly at 195/6 from their 20 overs.

Globstars keep Kollam in check

Kollam began their chase with intent, with Arun Poulose scoring 37 off 23 balls and Anand Krishnan adding 21 off 16. Globstars, however, continued to make important breakthroughs throughout the innings.

Akhin Sathar led the bowling attack with 2/12, while Ibnul Afthab, Athif Bin Ashraf, Akhil Scaria and Harikrishnan M U picked up a wicket each.

Rain eventually interrupted the chase, with Kollam at 129/6 after 15 overs.

With play unable to resume, the VJD method was applied to determine the result. The revised target and par score left Kollam 21 runs short, handing Globstars a 21-run victory via the VJD method.

The win adds another valuable result to Globstars' campaign, with the team continuing to build momentum in KCL Season 3.

For Kunnummal, it was a memorable evening as his explosive 58 set the foundation for the victory and earned him the Player of the Match honour.
