Ahead of the Kerala Cricket League Season 3, Calicut Globstars have entrusted that responsibility to Bijumon N, one of Kerala cricket’s most respected coaches. Taking over from Feroz Rasheed, who guided the franchise through its first two seasons, Bijumon arrives with a reputation built not only on tactical excellence but on developing some of Kerala’s finest cricketers, including India’s white-ball star Sanju Samson.
His appointment signals more than a change in personnel. It reflects the club’s ambition to build on a strong foundation while nurturing the next generation of match-winners.
A Coach Who Shapes Cricketers, Not Just Teams
Within Kerala’s cricketing ecosystem, Bijumon N has earned immense respect as a coach who focuses on long-term player development.
Working as a coach at the Kerala Cricket Association’s Centre of Excellence, he has played an important role in mentoring young cricketers during crucial stages of their development. His emphasis on discipline, technical refinement and mental preparation has helped several players transition from promising youngsters to professional cricketers.
Those who have worked with him often describe him as a coach who prioritises process over results, believing sustained improvement ultimately leads to consistent performances.
The Trusted Mentor Behind Sanju Samson
Among the many cricketers Bijumon has coached, none better illustrates his influence than Sanju Samson.
During one of the most challenging phases of Samson’s international career, after missing out on India’s 2023 ODI World Cup squad, the Kerala batter returned home determined to improve rather than dwell on disappointment. Bijumon worked closely with him, helping refine both his technical preparation and mental approach.
That mindset shift paid immediate dividends. On India’s tour of South Africa, Samson produced a composed maiden ODI century, an innings that underlined his maturity and ability to perform under pressure. Bijumon later revealed that their work centred not just on technique, but on preparing for South African conditions and building the temperament required to play long, match-winning knocks.
It is perhaps the clearest example of the coach’s greatest strength not simply improving skills, but unlocking belief.
A Mentor for Kerala’s Emerging Talent
While his association with Sanju Samson has drawn national attention, Bijumon’s contribution to Kerala cricket extends far beyond one player.
Through his work with the KCA’s coaching system, he has mentored numerous young cricketers progressing through the state’s pathway. His coaching philosophy combines strong fundamentals with an understanding of modern T20 cricket, encouraging players to develop both technically and tactically.
That experience makes him an ideal fit for a competition like the Kerala Cricket League, where young talent often shares the dressing room with established domestic and IPL players.
A New Chapter
For Calicut Globstars, appointing Bijumon N is not simply about changing coaches it is about embracing a philosophy built on development, preparation and sustained excellence.
His track record speaks for itself. He has helped shape international cricketers, mentored some of Kerala’s brightest talents and earned the trust of players through his attention to detail and calm leadership.
Now, he begins a new journey in orange.
As the Globstars set their sights on KCL Season 3, they do so under the guidance of a coach who has spent years building champions one player at a time.
